disAbility Performing Arts Festival for a Change
The world has become more sensitive towards diversity, and artists with disabilities are finally getting the recognition they deserve. However, despite a growing awareness of diversity and recognition for artists with disabilities, festivals worldwide are still inaccessible to many, with only two in the UK and Australia deemed fully accessible. It’s time for the USA to lead the charge towards accessibility, starting with WawaFest in Washington, D.C.
That’s why we’ve created WawaFest, a two-day event designed to promote and showcase professional artists with disabilities to the mainstream and to provide festival patrons with a world with no barriers to entertainment.

Discussions are underway between WawaFest and Anthem Theatre at the Wharf, a world-renowned venue known for showcasing the finest talents in music, dance, and theater located right in the heart of Washington, DC.
The Anthem, just blocks from the National Mall, is the new music venue at The Wharf on Southwest Washington, D.C.’s waterfront. The Anthem is the first venue of its size in D.C. specifically built from the ground up for music and fills an important void in D.C.’s music scene.
